Working towards golf fitness

Golf fitness is essential to play a better game on the course. Even if you are a senior citizen who just found golf to be a relaxation, you should learn and practice golf fitness. Fitness not only helps you play better shots, but also reduces injuries when you play the game.

Despite the fun and entertainment, golf is a game in which injuries are common. An unfit body is prone to more injuries, which spoils the fun in the game.

Stay motivated

Even many people who realize the importance of golf fitness don’t take more care about golfing exercises because of several reasons. The basic reason is lack of motivation. If you are motivated, you can find time to practice the exercises even if you work for more than 16 hours a day.

People lose their interest in golfing exercises when winter comes. When you stop doing the exercises, your muscles become tight, rendering your body unfit for the golf season.

Think about the charming spring and your favorite game golf and take steps to practice golfing exercises thrice a week throughout the cold seasons when you maybe aren’t playing golf matches.

Buy the right golf fitness program

When it comes to golf fitness, many programs are available that teach golfing exercises. It is important to buy a program that is suitable for you. The fitness program may consist of regular workouts and diet information.

You should not buy a program that is unsuitable for you. You must read the program information and read user reviews to get more information. If you are sure that you can follow the program regularly, then you can buy the program.

When you choose a golf fitness program, ensure that the program concentrates on stretching and training exercises. These are very important for a golfer in order to drive the ball longer and harder.

You can get some advice from your trainer about the best suitable fitness program because your golf instructor knows more about that than you are likely to.

Investing in fitness essentials
Some programs suggest you to go to gym to practice golf workouts. These programs can be chosen if you need a trainer by your side to keep you motivated. You should pay for regular gym membership and utilize the membership to keep you fit.

On the other hand, you can find golf exercise programs that can be done at home. All you need is dumbbells and exercise balls that can be purchased from anywhere. You can choose to buy these things based on golf themes so that you are reminded of your favorite game when you look at these fitness goods.

Manage your time

You may be a busy business person, a workaholic man or a mother, but if you want to play golf, you need to have golf fitness. When someone says he has no time to practice fitness program, it means he is lying. You can always find time if you are really passionate about golf.

Setting aside one hour for the fitness program three times a week is not a big deal for anyone. Further, golf fitness indirectly tones your muscles and gives you a good body shape. It is certainly worth the effort!

Every golfer wants to learn how to improve their golf swing, and depending on how much money a golfer is willing to invest there are a number of different options to choose from. From private instruction, to videos, books and software programs that teach golfers the fundamentals of the perfect swing and help them develop a more powerful swing.

Golfers who like the do-it-yourself approach can benefit from free online programs designed to help golfers learn the tips and tricks of improving their golf swings.

Free Online Aids

Youtube and MetaCafe offer hundreds of videos created by golf professionals to help you learn the best way of improving your swing. Practice right in front of the computer screen to learn to imitate and feel the difference in the correct swing.

Take care to only follow advice from golf instructors and other professionals since a number of videos created by amateurs can also be found on the web and using their advice could make a bad swing worse. Free eBooks and software online also help you better understand the mechanics behind the swing.

Go to eBay

If you are looking to buy the most expensive golf equipment around, take a moment and rethink that approach. There are tons of choices for golf balls, irons, woods, and other essential equipment.

You can choose to buy basic items for decent prices in the store but for equipment that is more expensive consider buying used to see if the price is really worth it. Buying used swing analysis tools, clubs with special grips and weighted clubs can save you tons of money.

These items are often sold in mint condition, usually by other casual golfers who spent too much money too soon! You can also choose to borrow equipment from friends who no longer have an interest in the sport or don’t mind sharing.

Watch and learn

No one can improve their game by just picking up the club and swinging. Watch the golf channel, observe professionals during matches.

Pay attention to their stance, feet placement, the arc they make as they swing the club, how they shift their weight between their knees and even how they turn their wrist when connecting with the ball.

Review their technique, stand up and practice their technique to see how it feels different from your normal swing.

Consistency is the Key

May 10, 2009 by

The hardest part of golf is consistency. It is not possible for any human to hit a golf ball perfectly 100% of the time. That includes Tiger Woods. However, what very goof golfers is consistently hit the ball very well the majority of the time. They hit it nearly perfect quite a lot of time.

What sets them apart is consistency. Even those at the top of their game have days they don’t get their shots right too many times. Golfers can only get that consistency is through practice. This is the only thing that can really help.

Consistently bad shots are another matter that needs to be addressed. This is the major matter when it comes to gold consistency.  To make something a natural behavior you must do it consistently.

The also applies to poor technique.  Address poor golf techniques as soon as possible.  The sooner you start working on them the sooner you will be able to practice the correct methods. Then you can start making the new actions second nature.

The best thing is for everyone to get professional instruction before ever attempting to play a round of golf.  That way they won’t learn bad techniques and need to relearn them at a later time.

I would recommend before ever attempting a round of golf newcomers have lessons. Learning how to use one club well is an alternative to lessons.  You probably want to learn how to play with the 7 iron. Play the entire round or nine holes using just the 7 iron and a putter.

One player I knew I knew make dramatic improvements to his game by using this technique

This happened after he had been playing for years. He began playing golf with only the 7 iron and his putter. Once he perfected his swing, he introduced other clubs one at a time.  Once he perfected his swing with the 7 iron he went on to master the other club with ease.

4 Pieces of Golf Equipment That Can Improve Your Swing

May 7, 2009 by

Your golf swing can be influenced by the quality of the golfing equipment you have. If you want to make some serious improvements in your game, then its time you looked into these 4 pieces of equipment guaranteed to shave a few points of your score.

1. Weighted clubs: A weighted club offers one of the best ways to improve your swing as it gives you the correct feel for the backswing and downswing by adding resistance. The added weight of the club helps to train and make your muscles stronger.

When you switch back to a regular club, you will be able to feel the difference in the power you have during your swing. Around a dozen strokes at a time is adequate with the weighted club to help improve your swing or to act as a warm up.

Work through the motions of a swing slowly when using weighted clubs. Doing so will help to create a wider arc on the backswing, and help with getting the right tempo of the swing down.

The use of the club will help improve posture and provide better swing consistency for golfers. A molded grip helps remind the golfer of the correct position for the hands as they swing the club.

2. Golf clubs: No two golfers have the same body type so to improve your swing it may be time to invest in custom fitted clubs. Though fitted cubs cost more, most golfers will tell you the expense is worth it.

Clubs can be customized based on your swing speed, age and handicap; the custom fit gives a better grip, improves club head speed and is fitted to be the perfect height for the golfer. A custom club can also prevent a sliced ball that occurs because of a club being too flat.

3. Golf swing gloves: If you tend to have trouble with balls veering off to the side, the grip and wrist are typically the problem. Beginning golfers tend to flick their wrist at impact causing a shot to go wide instead of sending it straight down the line.

Golf swing gloves function as a wrist guide, keeping the grip stable and giving more power since the golfer does not force the grip tighter. By keeping the wrist in the right position, golfers keep pressure off their wrist.

4. Golf balls: Regardless of what you may have heard, the price of your ball does not matter. The only difference between cheap and expensive balls is how much they affect your bank account!

Golf is not a cheap game to play and there are a number of worthwhile expenses that can help you improve your swing but the cost of a dozen high tech balls is not a necessary investment for a beginner.

Wait a few months before going out and buying $30 golf balls. This allows you enough time to get a better feel for your swing, taking you to the point where your expensive golf balls don’t end up in the water.

For more experienced players a high-tech golf ball can be sound investment for reducing your handicap by a few points.

A Unique Putting Tip

May 7, 2009 by

To improve your technique use this simple technique.

You need to learn to putt on the flat before you can expect to putt well on greens with a slope.

By practicing this you will be able to swing your putter though a straight line. This will enable you to hit the ball squarely on the face of the putter.

There is another good technique you can use when practicing on the green. Mark straight lines with a builders chalk line in several directions from the center of the hole spanning out around the green.  You will want to do this to one that you have at home since this technique wouldn’t be appreciated in public.

To make the process easier you should get someone to hold the chalk line at the center of the cup.

To leave chalk marks along the ground you must move around the green flicking line.  After that place your golf ball on the line and leave some of the line on the ground visible behind the ball. Your swing will be guided by that.

Swing your putter using the line on the ground as a guide.  You should line up the putter itself to connect with the center of the ball.

You will manage to putt in a very short time. From a relatively good distance you will be able to get the ball in the hole most of time.

Consistency and correct posture will help start to putt better.

Move the ball off the line after doing this from a different position on the green. Visualize that there is still a line on the ground by creating it in your mind. Look from the ball to the cup and back again several times.

You should line your putter up as before and look at the line on your putter. To hit center of the ball with this spot on your club.

You should now retrain yourself to see an invisible line from the ball to the cup. This will help you be able to use it on any green you play on.

Accuracy First and Distance Will Follow

May 4, 2009 by

Most beginners just want to hit the ball as far as possible. This is the one thing they have in mind. This mindset is one that many golfers never quite get out of. By not getting out of this way of thinking many golfers will never hot the ball the distance that they are capable of.

Wise golfers will practice for accuracy first. Once they have mastered the art of control they will concentrate on the distance.

If the ball is going got end up on another fairway or in the rough, there isn’t much point in hitting the ball.

If the ball is going to end up on another fairway or in the rough it’s not much point hitting the big yards off the tee.

The following shots will be all the more difficult. This is the only thing you will succeed in doing.

A fairway drive down the center will set up for a better approach shot. Although it will be a few meters shorter. You will also have a lower round score.

You will gain control of your shots by playing with smaller, more controlled wings. In a shorter amount of time you will progress to longer distances faster and correct techniques will be learned. They will hold you in good steed for the remainder of your playing career.

Developing accuracy first will also lengthen the distance of your drives. In fact the ball will be hit further.

Beginning with smaller swings will make it easier to train your body. You will be able to develop the correct actions. These actions are essential to helping you progress to the longer drives.

Over time, as you master your swing you will be able to progress to a full swing. You will know that you will have to control it to hit the ball in the correct direction.

A full swing ad correct action create a combination that will ensure you will hit the ball further. This would not be as likely if you only aimed for the big shots from the outset.

Why do you need to develop your own golf style?

April 27, 2009 by

Unlike many people assume it to be, golf is not an easy game. The rules are simple, but the game play is tough. Many amateur players think that they can play the best game if they mimic the golf experts like Tiger Woods and V.J. Singh. Unfortunately, this is not true.

You cannot give your best shot if you mimic these legends. Golf is not only related to the game playing tactics. The game greatly relies on the power in your body muscles and the way you use them.

Every individual has his own body structure and he develops muscles in a unique way. You need to prepare your muscles and train them to swing the ball perfectly. To achieve this, you need to have a professional customized training.

Hiring a physical trainer is expensive, but it is the best investment you will ever make if you are a passionate golfer. When you have a trainer by your side, you have someone to support you and help you play a perfect game.

The trainer is not someone who simply watches your game. You have to hire an expert who works to improve the way you play the game.

You have to develop your own style to play a good game. Sometimes, mimicking other players may cause a decline in your performance. You have to work on those tips and tricks that will help you improve your game. If you are able to uncover your hidden golf talents, you can definitely become a good golfer.

For this, you need to experiment on various golfing techniques. You have to be creative while learning new learning techniques. Don’t be afraid to experiment on them.

You have to keep changing your techniques until you find something that works for you. At the same time, if you keep on changing techniques frequently, you will not know which one works out for you. If you have a bad day on the course, take some rest and restart the game later.

You don’t have to change the way you swing the golf clubs immediately after a shot goes wrong. You have to give it a few tries to understand the technique.

After a few tries, if you are not satisfied, you can change the technique. When you learn new techniques, you will be more aware of where to focus your attention on improving your golf swing.

Golfing rules are important, but don’t be a book worm to learn the rules. You have to prepare your mind to follow the rules naturally when you play the game.

This is possible if you practice more. While swinging the golf club, your concentration should be on the shot. Don’t let your mind dwell on some other problem. It is better if you can have someone who can tell you what went wrong while hitting the ball.

Also, you have to keep track of those techniques that worked for you. After a handful of experiments, you will automatically develop your own style that helps you play a better game each time. Always keep learning and look for ways to improve your game further.
